The Scottish Government has created a comprehensive package of business support measures to sustain business at this critical time. It’s worth £2.2 billion and is aimed at helping to maintain businesses and also assist them in paying and providing fair treatment of their staff.
Some of the Scottish Government measures include:
- 100% rates relief for properties in retail, hospitality and leisure as well as the airport sector – a major employer in the Edinburgh area.
- 1.6% rates relief in Scotland for all non-domestic properties
- a Business Support Fund with grants to help protect jobs, prevent closures and assist in economic recovery, provided through local authorities.
- a £100 million support fund to help newly self-employed people and SME businesses facing difficulties due to COVID-19
